Local Drug Task Force Investigation Results in Seizures of Narcotics, Cash, and Weapons

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - The NCIS Resident Agency Camp Lejeune Special Operations Unit, as part of a local drug task force, participated in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Maysville, North Carolina on Feb. 21 resulting in the seizure of 4,000 grams of methamphetamine, over 1,000 grams of cocaine, as well as fentanyl, cash, and multiple vehicles and firearms.
 
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times more potent than heroin, oxycodone and morphine. Just two to three milligrams of fentanyl can kill a person. The amount of fentanyl seized in this bust was equal to 316,000 milligrams.
 
The joint investigation included representatives of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
 
As a result of the seizure, law enforcement partners arrested Antonio Brinson Whitney, a known supplier of narcotics to active-duty Marines.  Whitney was charged with two counts of felony trafficking methamphetamine, two counts of felony trafficking opium/heroin, two counts of felony trafficking cocaine, felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony manufacture methamphetamine, felony manufacture cocaine, and felony manufacture of a Schedule II controlled substance.

Whitney was also charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine; felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine; felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; and felony maintaining of a dwelling for a controlled substance.
 
The NCIS Resident Agency Camp Lejeune Special Operations Unit is part of the NCIS Carolinas Field Office, which is located aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and provides support to Marine Corps and Navy installations throughout North and South Carolina. Camp Lejeune is home to II Marine Expeditionary Forces, along with tens of thousands of Marines, Sailors, and their family members who live and work in the local area.
