NCIS is seeking individuals who possess strong academic credentials, outstanding character, and a high degree of motivation. College internships with NCIS offer students a unique perspective into the agency, our mission, and what it takes to serve in an elite civilian federal law enforcement organization with global locations.

NCIS Honors Internship Program

The NCIS Honors Internship program is a dedicated hands-on experience designed to provide educationally related work assignments for students. This minimum 12-week experience immerses interns in unique experiences such as law enforcement, national security, intelligence, and cyber while working alongside experienced NCIS personnel. All academic backgrounds are invited to apply. NCIS strives to place students in internships that match academic background, studies, and interests.
NCIS currently offers three separate internship programs annually at NCIS Headquarters or field offices:

Spring Internship (January – May/June)
Application deadline: August 1
Summer Internship (May/June – August)
Application deadline: November 30
Fall Internship (August – December)
Application deadline: April 30 (Deadline extended to June 16) 

Eligibility requirements include enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate school, minimum 3.0 GPA or higher, U.S. Citizenship, and meets NCIS drug policy, including no marijuana use in the last 3 years.

NCIS Wounded Warrior Intern Program

The NCIS Wounded Warrior program is for active duty service members who are participants of the Department of Defense (DoD) Operation Warfighter (OWF) Program. The Wounded Warrior internship provides the service member, who is either waiting for medical retirement or return to active duty, the opportunity to gain professional skill sets for future employment. Internship locations include NCIS headquarters at Quantico, VA or a NCIS Field Office. Secret security clearance or higher is required, favorable NCIS suitability check, and a minimum three-month internship.
