NCIS special agents are directly assigned as Task Force Officers with federal partner such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Agency, and Homeland Security Investigations, and also co-locates federal and state agency partners in NCIS offices.

Living & Working There

The CAFO is staffed with a team of special agents, investigators, analysts, military members, and support personnel who conduct operational and investigative activities to counter criminal and national security threats throughout North and South Carolina. The field office executes the full range of mission functions and provides unique cross discipline opportunities for assigned personnel.

Living in the Carolinas offers a diverse blend of landscapes from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Atlantic coast, with office locations located in close proximity to some of the most beautiful coastlines in the United States – the Outer Banks, Crystal Coast, Cape Fear Coast, and the SC Lowcountry. Winters are mild and summers are hot. The area is rich in history and vibrant traditions with a bit of Southern hospitality mixed in. Cities like Wilmington, Raleigh, and Charleston blend tradition with modern amenities, a thriving and dynamic art scene, and plenty of excitement, while smaller coastal towns offer a slower and quieter pace.
