MTAC Force Protection Intelligence Conference brings experts from around the world

More than 120 intelligence and force protection personnel from various commands participated in the 2024 Multiple Threat Alert Center Force Protection Intelligence Conference held Nov. 19-21 at NCIS headquarters in Quantico, Va.

The FPIC is a forum for personnel at the fleet, installation, and operational division levels of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and NCIS to receive detailed force protection-related intelligence and program briefs from the MTAC Watch, MTAC Force Protection Divisions, NCIS National Security Directorate, and Department of the Navy stakeholders.

The unique event provides a venue for members of the force protection, intelligence, and law enforcement communities to come together to coordinate, receive information, and gain a better understanding of the broad array of threats facing the Department of the Navy.

The three-day conference allows for discussion, questions, elaboration and clarification of complex intelligence and policy, ensuring a thorough understanding of force protection risk and response. It’s a key coordination meeting for identifying force and operational protection threats, and the intelligence analysis provided serves to baseline threats to a multitude of DON equities. It is also instrumental in the initial development of resource funding initiatives to counter threats worldwide.

Multiple participants stated there is no other venue that provides this level of insight into force protection-related intelligence.

The intelligence provided by the FPIC directly impacts and feeds Fleet and Force priorities by identifying threats and capability gaps that may impact the DON’s ability to operate ashore and afloat.

Participants at the 2024 conference included NCIS personnel from around the world as well as representatives of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations; Headquarters Marine Corps; U.S. Fleet Forces Command; U.S. Pacific Fleet; 7th Fleet; U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Europe and Africa, South, and Northern Commands; DON Counterintelligence Coordination Authority; U.S. Indo-Pacific Command; Marine Corps Intelligence Activity; Commander, Naval Installations Command; Marine Expeditionary Forces; and multiple Navy Regions.

Attendance at the conference has increased each year, a testament to the impact and relevance of this unique forum.
