SEFO integrates with seven US Embassy country teams throughout Central and South America.
Living & Working There
SEFO is a diverse team of dedicated Special Agents, Investigators, Intelligence Analysts, military, and support personnel tackling some of the most challenging and sensitive cases concerning public safety and national security. Special Agents and Investigators are at the forefront of SEFO's investigative efforts as they lead complex investigations into counter-narcotics operations, child exploitation cases, and serious incidents involving sexual and domestic violence. Intelligence Analysts serve a pivotal function within SEFO by fusing intelligence capabilities into proactive operations and investigation. Professional administrative support personnel play an equally critically role, managing the detailed coordination, case documentation, and administrative functions that keep the SEFO operations running smoothly. Their contributions are essential for maintaining operational efficiency and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the agency.
One of the benefits of SEFO is the flexibility it offers to its personnel in terms of geographic location. Personnel can be assigned and tasked to various locations across the Southeast Hemisphere, each assignment presenting unique operational tempos, cultural experiences, and living conditions. This mobility allows SEFO to respond swiftly pivot on response to emerging threats and adapt to the specific needs of each region. Personnel may find themselves working in urban environments with high population density and significant criminal activity or in rural communities where building relationships and trust is crucial for effective operations. Each environment presents its own set of challenges and opportunities, enhancing the experience and professional growth of SEFO staff.
