Mission
The NCIS mission is to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats to the United States Navy and Marine Corps-ashore, afloat, and in cyberspace.

Southeast Field Office

Office History:
NCIS’ Southeast Field Office (SEFO) is located aboard Mayport Naval Station, in the city of Jacksonville, Florida. The Southeast Field Office area of responsibility (AOR) spans across the states of Georgia and Florida down to the Caribbean and into Central and South America.

Comprised of four NCIS Resident Agencies (NCISRA) -- Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, and Mayport Naval Station -- the Southeast Field Office provides both United States Navy and Marine Corps assets with complete and comprehensive coverage in order to “prevent, protect, and reduce.”

Additionally, the Southeast Field Office has several personnel assigned to multiple U.S. Embassies throughout the Caribbean and Latin America as part of Force Protection Detachments (FPD), Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) in Florida and Georgia, Joint Inter-Agency Task Forces (JIATF), and on the staff of the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM).

Investigative Units:
In order to fulfill the NCIS mission to its fullest extent, the Southeast Field Office manages a proactive general crimes and special operations cadre of personnel to include those Special Agents assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Task Force, International Crimes Against Children Task Force, and more recently, supporting initiatives in the realm of Combating Transnational Organized Crime (CTOC).

Through its general crimes and special operations cadre, Department of Navy (DON) priorities of reducing and preventing sexual assaults and other major crimes such as the use of synthetic narcotics are addressed through proactive outreach and reactive quality investigative support.

The Southeast Field Office conducts multiple counterintelligence, technology protection, force protection, and counterterrorism investigations and operations via its counter-intelligence and combating terrorism squads and personnel assigned near major universities in Georgia and Florida.

Additionally, the Southeast Field Office maintains a select group of special agents collaterally assigned to represent NCIS in the areas of threat management, protective service operations, Cold Case homicide investigations, hostage negotiations, and as trained Major Case Response Team members.

Southeast Field Office is also the base of multiple Security Training Assessment and Assistance Team members who conduct a variety of force protection functions in the SEFO AOR to include subject matter exchange programs, DON training, and exercise support.
